The show has made me realize that Cuba Gooding will never escape the Radio role. Dude is a terrible actor. The whole crying scene with the gun in the Bronco made me think of Radio the entire time. Malcolm Jamal Warner would've been a better OJ.

I was thinking the same . I do not like the Melodrama of Cuba.

Hate him as an actor .

I thought Blair Underwood would have been a better choice?

More subtle actor looks a bit more like OJ than Gooding.

I'm watching DESPITE Gooding Jr.

The actors on this show should be found guilty of malfeasance. Especially Travolta and Schwimmer.

he wrote a book about "IF I HAD DONE IT, THIS IS WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE"

I just don't see how he isn't guilty. It's bullshite he got off for two fricking murders.

No he didnt. He was too incompetent and Kennedy's murder was an accident.

It's bullshite that the day his non guilty verdict was read certain classmates at my high school acted like it was the happiest day ever singing and running and dancing in the halls saying the news was better than the day Jesus Christ was born.

The funny thing is OJ didn't even want to be black and lived his life like a white man yet black people defended him as one of their own.

I got a good laugh when they were saying the same thing in the scene at the prosecutor's house and someone responded "He running from the cops, so he black now"

That is kind of racist and stupid. Because he lived a life of high society he didn't want to be black? Being black doesn't mean your life is every episode of Good Times. Being black isn't being on welfare. Being black isn't having a bunch of kids out of wedlock. Being black isn't any of the negative stereo types that have become attached to blacks through the media. I mean I'm black and none of those things are associated with me. I have fraternity brothers that are CPAs, CFAs, Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, etc and all of them live pretty good. A few from my chapter are millionaires and in their mid 30s. So because O.J. didn't do the stereotypical negative things that you think is being black, doesn't mean he was trying to escape being black.

There was a good scene in the Tuesday night episode where Darden gets annoyed at his family BBQ while his younger relatives are happy that OJ is in the Bronco. He says Jim Brown was a better running back and fought for civil rights. That there are no community centers, parks, etc named after OJ because he didn't give a penny to those causes despite his wealth. That he never said a word about civil rights and just played golf all day (he doesn't go into the golf part in the show).

That doesn't mean he was trying to escape being black though.

Ehh, I don't agree with that. He certainly seemed indifferent to race issues but a far cry from wanting to be white. OJ was/is all about OJ first and foremost. He'll be black when it helps him and he'll also be "white" (meaning acting in a way that is easy for white people to relate to) when it does too. Classic manipulator - a racial chameleon.

You bring up a good point, but I don't think he was trying to manipulate. What a lot of people are missing is that O.J. wasn't the only black guy in his circle. There were other black athletes he still associated himself with. I always felt that OJ lived his life how he wanted and didn't want to be labeled either way.

Yeah like I said, he seemed indifferent to race issues, which itself may draw the ire of some folks who expect people to have to be activists or something.

I understand Darden's point on the show, that it was foolish of black people to cheer for him just because he was black when he'd never done anything specifically to help the black community, but I wouldn't go so far as to say trying to be white or forget about being black - he just didn't care about it.

Well he is assuming that living high society is not something a black person does.

Keep watching Sparky....in a future episode, O.J. even says he's not black....he's O.J.
