Or looking in the phonebook as a kid to find your friend's Child line (remember that is how they were listed?)

Brings back some memories.

Me too!! I keep the box right next to my baggy full of baby teeth and my Polaroid photos of strangers on the bus.
on my nightstand sits the mannequin head I rest my toupee on each night before sleeping. I keep my letters in the nightstand drawer.

Till this day I have friends who've memorized my house number from calling it so many times. I have so many memories of me getting lost in shopping centers and having my mom paged on the intercom. I also recall the times when we had to listen to shitty radio stations on our road trips!

The broadcast TV stations signing off at night and back on early in the morning, both to the sound of the National Anthem.

Buying and immediately possessing physical tickets to concerts, sometimes one outlet would have the last ones and you'd race to get there.

100% Polyester suits and shiny print dress shirts, worn with the cuffs folded out.

I've forgotten most of my friend's number but one I can recall.

This and my mom telling my brother and I to get out from under the clothes on the racks.

Especially if they were AM stations in a car or truck with no air conditioner.

The old man driving the 68 Buick Wildcat heading to Pensacola on the old road, no interstate, him pulling the tab on a Falstaff, firing up a Pall Mall and hollering "roll up that god damn window boy, you're letting the smoke out."

"this concludes the broadcast day of xxxx broadcasting at an assigned frequency of xxxx at a power of xxxx megahertz...we will resume broadcasting at 6 am...have a pleasant evening..."

Freaking theme song to MASH. You knew it was bed time when that came on late at night. Fapping to the scrambled skin-a-max channel. Getting lost for hours on some Mario Bros. Ducktales after school. I could go on.
