Vilified? How so? Seems both take heat, but most are highly regarded by most people...going so far as defending them even when they may not deserve to.
On the other hand, had you included sports officials, you would have made a solid list of professions that you can not criticize AT ALL without members of that profession jumping up to defend nearly anything done by a fellow member.
