Wonder how hard it would be for a male bartender with over a decade experience in Nola to break in at a place in Vegas.

If you dont know a manager or have tits, good luck. Most men are stuck in management, bar backs or security

I read it as he makes $250k every time he performs and he performs a few times a week.

Probably impossible.

Buddy of mine has been living there for years. Bartended in LA, NYC, and London at places where it's not even worth it to put his Nola jobs and all he could land was one of the biggest strip clubs. He was also a model so it's not like he was some homeless looking dude slinging drinks

Unless you're willing to suck a dick or eight, good luck and don't hold your breath

You assumed something that was not there.

I also said their "top DJ", which pretty clearly implies they have more than one.

That would probably add a degree of difficulty to the BJs

I've been to Vegas several times, but not to a club. But just watching people gamble is enough for me to know there are a lot of people in the world with a lot of money to flush.

kinda what I thought... I will say that some of the bartenders I've come across when there either suck arse completely or pretty talented, but those are far and few between.

I had an itch to move there a year and just frick off, would probably try to use family connections if possible.

bar backs
I bet some of those bar backs are walking with a grand a night.

I know in Nola I've had barbacks walk with $500 on most Saturday's of the year

bar backs can make decent money but you work hard, security get bribe kick backs and management gets paid, but they work insane hours.

I have to think a mixoligist type bartender could make it in some upscale places. Not sure what the money is like.

What do you question?

I question that the top house DJ at hakkasan makes $250k per night. Tiesto makes $32m playing 140 shows a year. That is 228k per show. From what I can tell, there are only a few DJs in the world that make that kind of money, and the house DJ at Hakkasan isn't one. DJs that will ocassionally appear there (Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Calvin Harriss) might.

For the sake of context, casino and club owners realize younger generations don't spend money on gambling, but rather bottle service and music events. It's our version of gambling, essentially what baby boomers would blow their money on in Vegas the past several decades. Hence the crazy amount of money being put into this entire industry, bubble or not.

I can tell you for a fact it's not too hard to get a gig at a small/mid-size place to get your foot in the door...then make the right friends and move up fast.

If you want to get into the big $ from the jump - You have to know somebody major or catch on with a place that's about to open a new location in Las Vegas. Either that or make some SERIOUSLY strategic moves at Tales of the Cocktail and plant the seed in the right person's head.

I have 2 friends that bartend at major hotspots and another that is Bar Manager at an established mid-sized** hotspot. She worked the boats on the coast to pay her way through Tulane and they helped her get a foothold there about 10 years ago.

**
mid-sized = On the Strip downtown @Fremont... 60-70 employees... 2 floors indoors + rooftop and ground level patio... Indoor & Outdoor live music stages (one floor indoors alternates dance club/private event room)

ETA:

Should probably mention all 3 I know there are female and legit rock stars at what they do. Only one of the 3 could've gotten a shot on "looks alone"... The other 2 are good-looking but not "Vegas Elite" types.

So my friend's brother has been in town for a few days from Vegas. I'm not into the scene, but apparently he did pretty well for himself as a DJ there before transitioning to promoting.

I told him that I was reading today that Calvin Harris will get $250,000 per show. He says, "No, it's $500,000." He said it's all about branding for the place and getting the certain clientele into the place. The profit margin is secondary. That's crazy.
