Good. That stuff is given out like candy, and patients get really pissy when you tell them they don't need opioids for their ingrown nail

You don't write enough norco rx's...

Now I have to get those frickin triplicate forms for all my pre and post-op patients. This is going to be a huge pain in the arse

to the DEA

HydroCODONE will not be allowed to be called in, e scribed, or faxed

actually... all of this is wrong...

there are provisions for CII's that allow for all methods to be used... it can be called in, in an emergency, as long as the prescriber provides a handwritten hardcopy for the amount prescribed within 72 hours...

CII's are now allowed to be e-scribed, and have been for a couple of months... I routinely fill e-scripts for Adderall, Vyvanse, etc...

and CII's can be faxed in, for hospice patients only, and the hardcopy has to have "hospice patient" handwritten on the prescription for it to be valid...

just sayin'

How about for narcotics because it isn't an option for our EMR?

CII's

narcs, amphetamines, whatever... all CII's...

and LA just made a law concerning out of state narcotics as well... now you can only fill 10 days worth every 60 days of ANY out of state prescription for opiates/opiate derivatives, and that's only after verifying the physician and calling them to let them know....

also, Soma (carisoprodol) is a CII... why, i have no idea... it's not prescribed nearly as much anymore...

i say all of this is about 10 years too late... but leave it to the DEA and LA Board of Pharmacy to be late to the party....

there is some sort of registration or some shite that physicians must do to be able to e-scribe CII's... not sure about that end of the scene, but i know that it can and does happen, as far as e-scribing CII's...

the first one i got, i thought WTF?? i called the physician, explaining politely how stupid she was, but was promptly put in my place when it was explained and confirmed by my DM...

how about i just tell you that this DEFINITELY is happening.... we had to do an exact count on our hydrocodone products on Friday in preparation for it.....

and you NEVER have to have an exact count of CIII-V drugs... for inventory, we basically look in the bottle and estimate.... "yeah, it looks like 200, so that's what I'm rolling with..."

It's not that it's cheap. It's that it's easier to get then prescription drugs.

This isn't going to solve anything. All Drs will do is what they are doing now for adderall. They just write three separate scripts and date them for the correct fill date so patients still have 2 refills. This is fill good legislation to make it look like they give a damn about it.

The Fed Gov and DEA do not actively pursue adderall dealers. They do however take pain killers and stuff very seriously.

I've been told heroin is WAY cheaper than prescription painkillers.
