a lot of subtle “i can afford disney” in this thread
I see some of that, but also see a lot of people asking for clarification on why others like it. I, personally, don't care for it.
My daughter does go about twice per year. She was out there for about 10 hours today. She gets in for free, pays $25 to park, and about $20 for a burger, fry and drink. Parking is split between her and her friends.
For us, just due to logistics, it is not a major investment for her to go. When she does go, it is because she wants to, and I don't have to.

Knew a guy growing up in school and his family would go about three times every year.
He was obsessed with Disney and we all made fun of him
Such a waste of money to go that often

I just wonder how people afford that shite. Granted, I’m not an OT baller.
My buddy took his wife and daughter there a few months ago and said he could’ve taken them to Hawaii for cheaper
Most Americans have almost no savings and are up to their eyeballs in unsecured, credit card debt...that’s how the morons do it.

Disney is awful.
People who are obsessed are freaks and should be ostracized from society.

We went this past summer. Had a great time. Twice per year would be too much, though.

I have been saying this.
My mom’s side of my family was OBSESSED with Disney. Every aspect of it. They ridiculed us if we DIDNT love Disney.
Thank GOD I grew up with my dad’s parent’s.

Why do you care so much what other adults spend their money on?
I don't get why people spends a frick ton of money every year fishing and hunting, but I don't start threads to bitch about it.
Dude it’s a damn message board and we need things to talk about. If we only ever talked about things that directly impact us then shut this whole place down now.

I have never been to Disney World and don't intend to start now.

Lmao. My 8 year old has been over 20 times, 5 times this year alone. Why are you worried about what other people do with their money/time?

Not sure what you're saying, "I seem angry"? I'm not angry, I think I was just calling you out for not being worthy or able to afford a nice family vacation (if you can afford, you showed extreme shortsightedness in your comments). If you don't like Disney that's cool but don't hate on others that can afford it and like it.

Holy shite I love this thread.

I go to Disney World a couple of times a year, mostly for the food, the World Showcase, and to ride some roller coasters. The experience is a lot better without children because you can avoid all the kiddie stuff. It’s still too fricking expensive for me to really recommend it, though. A couple of months ago my girlfriend and I went to Europe for 9 days and it cost about half as much as what we spend on these Disney trips that are only 9 hours away.

I've never been, but I kind of want to go there on a head full of acid to laugh maniacally at all the giant cartoons.

A few weeks ago a dude took acid and went crazy on the Carousel of Progress, so you’d be in good company.

It's always been there. Like anything else, you are more aware of it with social media.

quote:Too many people plop down to Orlando on a whim, buy some tickets at the gate and go in thinking, “I’m here, Disney. Make this fun.”
I've never been,
That’s not how it works.
You will stand in lines. You will eat burgers and chicken strips. You will miss hundreds of interesting things. You will get sunburnt, wet, tired, cranky and broke with nothing to show for it.
You will curse the mouse the rest of your life believing you’ve done Disney.
There is no other outcome for you.
But it could have been so much more had you planned. Gourmet meals. Fine wines. Excellent beers. Few lines. Amazing entertainment. Connecting with happy childhood memories. Incredible fireworks. Good times.
But until you know what you’re doing after a dozen or so trips, it takes preparation. As a noob, you don’t have a great time just by going.
You reap what you sow with Disney.
