I just heard a dude tell the CEO, "I know just enough history to make me dangerous," and then follow that statement with an inaccurate historical statement.

What the frick does that mean? How can knowing very little history somehow make you a dangerous person?

Don't get me wrong, I understand what "I know just enough [blank] to make me dangerous" means.

I just think that phrase is overused. It annoys me. My experience has been that almost every person who says this often uses it FAR too much. It begins to define someone as a pretentious individual who believes they are rather intelligent when in fact they are certified jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none.

I take it as someone using self-deprecating humor to warn everyone that they don't know what they are talking about.

I would take GCS/Oweo back to get rid of you. That's how bad you are.

Same. This guy must hang around some real losers.

He could say: I know just enough losers to make me dangerous.

I know just enough about auto-erotic asphyxia to make me dangerous.

It means that someone knows just enough to talk out of their arse and act knowledgeable on a subject. The danger aspect comes in when their interperetation or "knowledge" of or on a subject gets taken for fact by another person and is put into use as if it were gospel on a matter.

Man, you just start a thread about every little thing that pops in your head, don't you? Most people that have friends IRL have these conversations around the water cooler. I guess that's not the case for you, is it?

How often are you around water coolers with your friends? I haven't been around a water cooler since my previous job, ~3 years ago and I didn't work with any friends.
