Revenues are down nearly 50%

AirBNB has lost a lot of its perks and the pricing is OOC making it no more desirable than a typical hotel stay.

Might be a wave of forced selling from Airbnb owners later this year.

All the fees certainly don’t help.

The church sisters (influencers) bought one and made videos about it. It was pretty eye opening and they were honest. Basically they made it sound like too many people were trying.

The series is a good watch for anyone considering it.

Yep last one I stayed in had a $60 damn parking fee for the condo and a $200 cleaning fee so a $250 a night condo cost me $900 for two nights after all the extra fees and taxes

People wanted to get out and travel last year because covid restrictions were gone. They were itching to go somewhere. Now, it's not as big of a deal

There are WAY too many people doing it. My wife wanted to AirBNB our guest house so she looked into it and here in podunk Lake Charles there are hundreds on there and only a few desirable ones seem to actually rent. People just stay at the casinos or a hotel close to the casino because there is no pricing advantage when you break it all down.

It's not that simple. It's been trending down for a while and now it has fallen off the cliff. They lost their way with pricing and fees. People are going back to hotels.

Yep. People finally realized that the fees were all bullshite. For example: $200 cleaning fee for 2 nights, but you have to take all the trash to the road, strip all the sheets off the bed and put them in the washing machine, wash and put away any dishes, plus vacuum the floors. Then AirBnB throws their fees in as well.

It’s good in areas off the beaten path or if you’re staying with a large group of friends. I don’t understand going to San Diego with my wife for the weekend and staying at some dudes townhouse.

Agreed. I would prefer a hotel in that case anyway. Less hassle.

this has been a shift in several travel groups I am in. Even more than the fees people are frustrated that sellers cancel last minute or airbnb does nothing when the place does not match the description/is in disrepair.

Airbnb just lost it’s way (along with people getting greedy)

It made sense for people in a large group that all wants to stay together for a long period of time (4 days/3nights +, for example) … and it made sense or a night to crash on a couch in someone’s extra space.

But people/corps turned Airbnbs into full time revenue stream…clientele are disrespectful and break shite…finding good cleaning help isnt cheap or reliable anymore…insurance, property taxes, maintenance have all skyrocketed which made them have to raise nightly rates so it’s not as lucrative to run full time

All of the above combined have made it not worth the hassle vs just getting a hotel for the night and knowing you can check in, have clean sheets, leave when you want and know the cost.

There’s little “value” in an Airbnb anymore , it’s now a premium service you use if you want to book a big lake house or pool house in a location and have a lot of people stay for a week

If you’re running a 0% vacancy rate for years on end you don’t even have it priced close to properly.

I’m not paying you $2,200 for three days and be expected to do chores. Hotels work just fine
