to avoid moving them
This. I have moved literally tons of books from place to place over the years. Even now, I usually donate hard copies once I am done. I know I can always get it on Kindle.
Also, lots and lots of the classics are free on Kindle, and a lot of excellent books are damn cheap.
ETA: Who the hell downvoted me for that? Geez. Must have pissed somebody off.

I read hard copy and also on my tablet. I don't use Kindle though.

I am a fan of my nook. Never thought I would get into the e-reader thing either. David Baldacci, Vince Flynn, and Brad Thor are my favorite authors right now.

It really depends... If it is something that I would like to keep around for a while, then I will buy a hardcopy.

Hard copy. I don't really like reading everything off of a screen. I also just enjoy the feel and smell of a book in my hands.

I have to have the book in my hands.
I hear Kindles increase reading frequency, but I can bring a book anywhere.

I read paperback, you can't wipe with a Kindle or Nook.

I've been reading from my phone because of the ease of purchase but prefer a hard copy.

The half priced book store is my best friend.

Kindle for stuff like Brad Thor or throwaway novels that I read all the time.
Hard cover for stuff I'd actually want to read again or put in a library eventually (law books, lots of cold war/ww2 history, novels that have staying power).
Sometimes I'll read a book on kindle then buy the hard cover used for 3-5 bucks.

pay $5 for the convenience of a kindle download or wait until you're near the half priced bookstore in town & pick up a hard copy of the same book for 75 cents?
if kindle..what are you using? tablet? phone? PC?
i can get a very large selection of books for free at the public library, both in hard back, paper back or on my kindle.
FREE.
Or I torrent.

My preference is hard back books, and I average maybe 50 a year. I have a B&N Nook, but only use it for trips... Price isn't really a consideration for me when buying books... but I will buy used books when I come across them, especially if they're older first editions.

I switched from books to iPad kindle app about 10 months ago. I'll never buy another physical book again if I can avoid it. I like being able to have a black background with white text, syncing across devices, cheap audio version, etc. Not to mention not having the annoyance of holding pages down at the beginning and end of books.
