It’s a DO school. First class graduates in 2024.

If only this was around for ole Dale Murphy back in the day, he wouldn't have had to get his from a fake med school in the Cayman Islands.

I never worry about their school.

I worry about their residency.

No such thing as a fly by the night medical school - MD and DO accreditation are pretty rigorous. In either case, students there must pass board exams and complete residencies, same as any other medical school

osteopathic school.

Here's a clip from wiki.

quote:

In modern medicine in the U.S., any distinction between the MD and the DO professions has eroded steadily. The training of osteopathic physicians in the United States is now virtually indistinguishable from the training of "allopathic" physicians (MDs).[4] Osteopathic physicians attend four years of medical school like their MD counterparts, acquiring equivalent education in medicine and surgery; DOs also attend the same graduate medical education programs (ACGME-accredited residencies and/or fellowships) as their MD counterparts to acquire their license as physicians and surgeons. DOs use all conventional methods of diagnosis and treatment and practice across all specialties of medicine and surgery. Though still trained in osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) during medical school,[5] the modern derivative of Andrew Taylor Still's techniques,[6][7] the majority of practicing physicians with a DO degree do not practice OMT in their daily work.[8] There are ongoing debates about the utility of maintaining separate, distinct pathways for educating physicians in the United States.[9][10]

It’s a DO school which is very legit. Those grad can match to a residency program just like an MD grad from Harvard

You should always focus more on someone’s residency program versus their med school

Yes, the profession is already referring to it as "Harvard on the Ouachita."
No difference whatsoever, except that one is in Cambridge, Ma.

Honestly some of the best and most respected doctors at our hospital are DOs.

Where a physician attends medical school does NOT matter.

However, it's more difficult to secure a good residency after having graduated from a less reputable school.

The residency is what matters. This is where virtually all actual practice knowledge is applied and mastered.
