A lot of folks living way beyond their means in Lafayette. 300k house with $900 note on vehicles. Living check to check. Wife shops at all the little boutiques in River Ranch whiles the husband bust arse over seas. Its quite comical. I know a few.
Ha! For real though.

That's what I was getting at but it won't stop coonass shop hands from repeating it as fact and laughing at all the "rick folk" that live there

There's a lot of stealth wealth in Lafayette
This is true. I was playing golf the other day with a guy from out of town. I pointed out a house on the golf course that was decent. It was probably a $450K type of house. The owner's Chevy pickup was outside in the driveway. I asked him if he thought the owner of that house was really wealthy? He guessed he was doctor making $300k a year or so. He almost fell out of the cart when I told him that the guy has his own private jet and is looooaaaaadddeeeddddaaaaa.

A lot of the other stuff that is being said is true, as far as the foreclosures and some of the ways they were financing these things. That was happening, but apparently, it hasn't been as big an issue as "shop hands" make it out to be.

my husband's grandparents are looooaaaadddddeeeddddd, but you'd never know it. Gotta respect that about those old time Cajuns. They'll pull a penny till it's wire meanwhile they're cashing in big time with their oil leases and selling old land in the country to cookie cutter developers.

I've been with the city since 2010 so I can't confirm what happened in 2008, but in 2010 I spent plenty of time in RR and every other house was for sale at the time. It's no so bad now, in fact those couillions are building like crazy again.
I live in a rural town in St Martin parish and you wouldn't believe the millionaires running around looking like welfare recipients
My wife grew up friends with the daughter of one of the wealthiest people in South Louisiana and they used to freeze their uneaten rice and wash zip lock bags and plastic utensils.

I saw 3 Lambo's and a Ferrari driving down Ambassador a few weeks back. They all had Louisiana plates.

Stopped in Lafayette to gas up yesterday, and next to the gas station there was a used car dealer that had 2 Lambos, 2 Audi R8s, an Aston Martin Vantage, a Bentley, a Nissan GT-R... I'm sure they buy them at auction or something like that, but do they really expect to sell these in Lafayette? They expect the rich Texans to cross the border? WTF?
Ahh, my home base.

If you'd see that woman in person like I have, you'd run from it as fast as you can. I always see her in Champagnes in the oil center. Bitch is fricking UGLY and fricking SCARY.
