Thanks to work, I avoided getting arrested today - Update in the OP

Group of kids, including my son, decided to go "ding dong ditching" this afternoon. (We called it something much different back in the day). It was broad daylight. There were 6 kids. They knocked on some guy's dining room window and ran off. Apparently he saw them running down the street to my house. Guy gets in his truck and drives down the street to confront them, which is totally reasonable in my opinion. However, once he threatened to have my 11 year old son arrested and then disrespected my wife when she was trying to get them all outside so he could confront them all, he crossed the line. Told them all to be at his house in 5 minutes. Fortunately, my wife had enough common sense to not go down there. One of the other kid's dad went down to talk to him. Hopefully, I cool off before Monday morning, because no man comes onto my property and does that to my family. There were kids all around crying because of the way he was acting.
I fully expect plenty of comments concerning how you'd have done the same thing in his shoes, or how I'm so big and bad behind a computer screen. It wouldn't be the OT without it. But kinda bored right now and thought you'd all like to hear about it. (Cue the "you're wrong" comments).
Update: Since I know many of you have been on edge to know what happened, I did confront the guy yesterday. As soon as I told him that I was the guy with the kid down the street he started apologizing. Said he and his wife had been sick and his wife had just fallen asleep when they knocked. Said he had planned on walking down and apologizing to my wife and son as soon as he felt better because he admitted to severely overreacting. So to all of you that wanted to know about the details that were being left out; there were none. Basically a bunch of kids knocked on a door in broad daylight. The guy overreacted. End of story.

At least someone is disciplining your son.

What are you, CIA spy? Why let him confront the madre without calming him down yourself?

Your neighbor needs to take an anger management class. Geez! I would hate to see what he would do if they had egged his house.

Your son's friends cried because a random man yelled at them? Cool.

You should apologize to the guy for your son acting like a TPOS.

Knocking on a front door isn't a trespass.
