Didn't see a thread. This video going viral this morning.

quote:

A roughly two-minute video captured Saturday night (May 27) by a bystander shows an apparent struggle between two men at the French Quarter scene where a Louisiana Supreme Court police officer shot a 23-year-old Texas man. The man is in stable condition and recovering in a New Orleans hospital while the State Police investigate what happened.

The Supreme Court has its own police force? I didn't know that.

That took the fight right out of him.

I guess the guy was really drunk and belligerent? It's a shame it had to escalate to that, but the cop seemed to be justified by what I saw.

For those that don't know, that was along side the State Supreme Court building (the old Wildlife and Fisheries building). Very beautiful building in the quarter.

The USPS has it's own police force. Why not the SC?

I know you are being a bit tongue in cheekish, but that is exactly the thought process by activists like Gravy and even main stream media.

I don't know about that. It's hard to see what the guy is doing once they separate.

The cop was obviously trying to detain the man. Then the TX guy squirms out from between his legs. The cop turns and fires.

I have no problem with that scenario.

Eta: Upon further review. The TX man swings at the cop when he gets free.

I don't give a frick. I'm all for cops shooting people who actively resist(not just pulling a hand away or running from them).

I'm proud of the officer for shooting him only once.

Looks to me like the cop had him held down, then they guy continued to actively try to gain the advantage. Looks like he actually got on top the cop. Don't fight a man with a gun if you do not want to get shot. It's why they carry them.

Seems pretty simple to me.
