If 52% of the state voted democrat, then the entire state is democrat right?

Obama's plan to wreck the gulf coast economy appears to be working..

oh sure. and if he had opposed fracking, what song would you sing?

I am surprised you waste your fake bile on a person who is not running.

Obama ACTUALLY wanted to invest in a green economy and compete vs Germany to invent the latest and greatest green technology. instead, fracking has made gas and oil so cheap that Venezuela and Russia are in deeper trouble than Texas is.

No it's not. Is it experiencing some issues due to recent OPEC strategies? Sure.

It will correct but I do think it will be longer than some expect. That said, Texas is far more diverse than the mid 80's......it will survive

Based on the idiotic beliefs people have today, you would think.

Because I think oil industry affects your job one way or another. Unless you are a paralegal like stated earlier.

I'm not a paralegal and my business is not skipping a beat because of the oil industry...in fact I'm putting more money in MY pocket for once with operating costs being lower.

Pretty sure it all relates to politics with him.

Yeah, he's definitely one of those. Unfortunately for him cheap oil and gas has the chemical industry booming in Texas and Louisiana. Oh, the horror.

Welcome to Louisiana in the mid-Eighties

exactly what I was thinking...that crash during the '80s is the very reason why I chose not to go into the oilfield upon graduation...

Texas won't follow that path.......the corporate diversity will keep that from happening.
LA will suffer far worse than Texas.

um, my commute home from The Galeria was hell, just like it always is. So, yea, I'd love to know where all this doom and gloom is.

One of the few bright spots in the American economy over the past few years has been Texas, and of course, because it's a Republican stronghold, the libs want it to fail.

More that Texans have been so damn smug about their economy and how it's a result of their doing something right. In actuality, it's mostly been due to macroeconomic factors they had nothing to do with. Now the cycle has changed, and Texas' fortunes have changed, again due to factors beyond their control.

I'm in a red state (overrun by religious right which can be annoying). I can't deny that I'm pretty happy. To be honest, Texas has it's shite together. Oil may crash and this won't be the best economy for that situation, but worst case it would still be pretty damned good. I have not noticed a blip in the economy outside of about six people I know who were laid off (I work in O&G). If I were laid off, I honestly don't know a better place to move with better opportunities (engineering).

But good thing you have weed.

If Texas is just lucky by sitting on vast oil reserves, why isn't California reaping benefits from its oil reserves at a similar pace? I think you know the answer.

California crude oil production averaged between 15 and 18 million barrels a month in 2014. Texas averaged from 87 million to more than 100 million barrels over the same period of time. CA has shale, but it's much more difficult to produce, and there's the problem of where to find the water for fracking.
