How long would they have me out of work? Could I lay around at the beach a few days after?

Recovery time?

Bout a week or so wearing tight draws to hold the fellas close as possible.
Ice em down with a bag of peas. Youll be fine

Any lingering soreness long after?

No

How many fricking threads about this will there be?

These threads usually come up between Christmas and New Years because deductibles have been met and there are bowl games to watch. The threads also pop up a lot during March Madness and the Masters.

You just have to know when to expect them.

Came home afterwards, packed some ice in a zip lock bag wrapped in a small towel, sat in a recliner. Changed out ice pack for the next 6 hours. Played golf 2 days later and used a jock strap to keep from bouncing around. All good.

urologist here. Procedure should take 20 minutes. Would plan on chilling at the house for 2 days or so. No heavy exercise for 5 days or so. Take a valium before and have somebody drive you back. ice pack and tight briefs are your friend.

It’s common courtesy to show up to the procedure with a boner.

The procedure and recovery were easy, but the one thing that has always troubled me is why the wife continued to take birth control pills.

Following vasectomy, a small fraction of patients experience chronic pain. Post-vasectomy pain syndrome (PVPS) is widely known as either constant or intermittent testicular pain for greater than three months (4). This pain interferes with quality of life and requires some degree of medical treatment.

chronic testicular pain for greater than three months after the procedure. Post-vasectomy pain syndrome (PVPS) is diagnosis of exclusion, and may be caused by direct damage to spermatic cord structures, compression of nerves in the spermatic cord via inflammation, back pressure from epididymal congestion, and perineural fibrosis

You're more awake than you'd like to be for it.

Not having to pull out is pretty dope

I told my wife if she makes me one of those cringe arse “care packages” on TikTok that I’ll get it reversed

Mine was 30 years ago, things may have changed. The procedure was easy and painless. Dr. told me to sit in warm salt water to dissolve the stitches. At the follow up he is doing the exam and without any conversation pulls out the non-dissolved stitches with tweezers. Damn near died.

Don’t get frozen peas. They are recommended because they are form fitting and they come in a bag that is handy. My doc told me to just use regular ice because the frozen peas thaw too quickly and then you are just left with peas.

I used sonic ice because it was form fitting, like the peas and it was actual ice. Just go buy a few bags to use.

Was put to sleep. Thank god cause the surgery nurse was a smoke show. Would’ve probably popped a woody no doubt if not sleeping.

Agreed. Had mine about 8 years ago. Whole procedure took about 10 minutes. Incision was so small that it didn’t require any stitches.

What this post said. Do absolutely nothing for a few days. Take an extra day of nothing just in case. You may feel like you can do things sooner than the doctor tells you, but do NOT. I made the mistake of walking my dog about a block 3 days later and regretted it. Felt like something was trying to pull my balls out for a week after that.

Also make sure you get at least two negative sperm checks done to make sure you are totally sterile. You are not in the clear immediately. My doctor told me I needed to ejaculate 15-20 times before getting to a zero count.

8 years later, no regrets.

Oh and don’t get put to sleep to do it. Take it like a man with a Valium and a local anesthetic.

Your wife will hear about her friends’ husbands who didn’t get put under.

That, combined with the fact that she pushed multiple humans out of her vagina while completely awake will cause her to never look at you the same.

Yea frick that. I got knocked out and I wouldn't have it any other way. The IV at the beginning was the worst part of the entire procedure, and that's only because I fricking hate needles. Pain was non existent after....I cut my grass and washed my car the next day since I was off work and bored. Wouldn't recommend that though....my sack swole up a good bit from being so active. Took it easy the next day and applied some ice and I was good to go.

I wonder if women lose a tiny amount of attraction to a sterile male--even if unconsciously.
