Veteran's Day = honoring those who have served in wars and conflicts.

Memorial Day = honoring those who died in wars and conflicts.

Baw, you dumb? Memorial day is for fallen or now deceased soldiers. Veteran's day is for those who are currently serving and those who have served in the military.

Serious question...Have you served?

If not, they've done more for their country than you.

You are still a Veteran (of the Armed Forces)even if you didn't go to war.

I'll be the first one to tell you I didn't go over seas, didn't do shite. I'll tell everyone. But still everyone thanks me!

I think the real honor belongs to the ones who did!

I guess for those that don't know what these days stand for or don't appreciate it, it means a couple days off to drink and take selfies.

Those that know the true meaning will remember the brave men and women who served, are still serving, and gave their lives so we could be free

My papa (dad's dad) spent three years in the army in WWII. Never saw action, however.

He is a vet.

My other papa (mom's dad) saw action in Korea.

He is a vet.

My neighbor just retired from the airforce reserve. Never saw action.

He is a vet.

My great uncle was shot down over germany, as a pilot. He was 19.

He is a vet, and we say a prayer with her sister, my grandma, on memorial day.

By definition a Veteran is anyone who has seen Active Service or deployed. By a technicality, guys that join the guard and never see a title 10 order are not veterans.

There's also regular veterans and combat veterans.

Everyone I know who moved from Europe asks "didn't we just do this" for every patriotic holiday

I'll admit they are a little repetitive, but....M'urica

Your definition is wrong. Just look up what a veteran is according to the VA. That is the real definition of a veteran.

Veteran's Day began as Armistice Day, and was to celebrate the end of WW1 (The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). It has become a day to celebrate all veterans, not just those who fought in wars. Memorial Day is to celebrate/mourn those who actually died in the service of our country.

Peacetime military is fricking shitty. I didn't sign on to be in the infantry to sit around and twiddle my thumbs and get PowerPoints on sexual assault, oomapit, etc! I don't necessarily want to go to war but damnit, I'm bored.

Did the OP spout off and realize he fricked up? Because that's what it looks like.

And I didn't do anything of significance in the Army Guard and I think I'm still a veteran.

Basically. He was complaining that peacetime vets and admin types were being "treated like Rambo" which doesn't make a lot of sense because Rambo was treated like shite.
