So it's just like any other private school then.

I was wondering when that one dumbass was going to show up in this thread. They always do.

here I'll spell it out, since you obviously received your kid's ability to follow along:

1. You said St Jude would be full of teachers without certification

2. I pointed out you didn't know WTF you were talking about. And that I actually...well...do know what I am talking about. Thus the whole, don't spread bullshite that you know nothing about and not expect to be called on it.

3. Now you want to focus on the AP thing, which had nothing to do with it other than me pointing out that the whole "ap credit" is a load of shite parents like to tell themselves to feel better. Congrats your kid gets to take a test to try and test out of something.

As for the cash, pretty sure I'll get by. My kids are worth it to me.

And I'm quite sure you know all about being balls deep in shite. But here is one last problem for ya. If the education your kids received was so bad for 8 years...how'd they make the honors program? Oh, that's right, dad taught them.

St. George is really big. I prefer the smaller schools myself but to each their own.

I assume you are a regularly attending parishioner? That is good that you got in as my oldest didn't get in when we applied. She was able to get in there for kindergarten thus my youngest was able to get in for Pre-K due to the fact her sister was already in.

That's what I thought ... it's NOT college credit. No problem either way for me but we don't have it and I wasn't sure. My kids are glad so far about their choice though to take actual college courses for actual college credit in high school.

(Really not bashing AP)

I think it comes down to what parents are comfortable with and what they want for their kids. We wanted our kids in a faith filled environment and they're quite happy there. When asked if they'd have preferred going elsewhere, we got a NO.

My daughter was just accepted into their Pre-K class. Good school and teachers? Worth the tuition?

Shouldn't you ask this before applying?

You're right. I'm even more ate up with the catholic guilt now. I'll hit confession and all will be right again.

You, of course, will still be ate up with the same equal amount of dumbass you displayed in your first post on this thread.

But...you WILL have that $50k. You can finally get that loaded out Mustang (no offense, Jay) you've had your eye on since you started working double shifts at the plant. Bra!

(we are still stereotyping here, yes?)

really...WOW! I'll have to mention that to Catholic High. They'll be fascinated to know that is available. Wait, my bad, my son just wrapped up an honors class at Catholic that offers College credit. Maybe they do know after all.

You're wrong on this. I went to Catholic and very few were given the opportunity to get college credits. They would actually have to go to LSU to take the classes. I'm in Prairieville and my neighbor's daughter across the street started LSU as a second semester sophmore having never left her high school (Dutchtown). I went to catholic school my entire life and now that my kids are in public school in Prairieville I am quite surprised at how good the school is. Very apprehensive at first but I listened to others that did the same thing and I'm glad I decided not to wast my money on catholic schools. Catholic is around $11000K and St. Joe's is around $12000. 23000K+ a year for high school when good public schools are right down the street is dumb. Granted, thats only if you believe the education part is that much better, it would be different if you wanted them in catholic school for religion purposes.

Really, not. My son is in a freshman honors class and can test for college credit at the end of year. I didn't make that up. That said, how much of this they offer I have no idea.

so I showed where you were wrong. And I offered how I know you were wrong. All you have shown is that you've mastered over-use of the term "catholic guilt".

It isn't much, that is the point I was trying to make. I was surprised at this too when I found out myself. I have two nephews that are Jrs at Catholic and they both started but dropped out of AP classes because there was no benefit other than being challenged more. Now, instead of busting arse for an A in that class they have more time to study and work on other classes. Its been 17 years since I graduated but sports is so much more demanding time wise now too.

Another thing about the public schools is that once you complete the credits needed for a subject you don't need to take anymore classes. Meaning they can leave at lunch time and go to work somewhere. Or if they play sports it gives them time to finish class work and studying before they start their practice. At catholic schools they make them take random electives that really serve no purpose to put them at the school all day. In my senior year I had one off hour verses my friends being done at lunch time then heading to their jobs.
