I'm thinking louvre, Versailles and maybe Normandy. Is there anything else to do. Is 5 days to long?

I'd rather see the countryside

flat tire bike tour, or just go straight to the boat and drink wine

Normandy is one of the coolest places I've ever been. It's a must see IMO.

i've been told there's a tower there...

Normandy is a must. It's a must visit for any American and a beautiful place.

My wife and I went in 2010. Tower, Arc, and a walk around the river is nice. I have been a couple of times and, in my opinion, the people there get a bad rap. Most I have encountered are as nice as can be; just don't be the ugly American and you'll have a great time.

Nah. That's about all there is in Paris. It's a weekend trip at the most to experience the entire city and history.

Probably will not be a popular post but I found Paris overrated. France is a really cool place to visit but don't confine yourself to Paris. The countryside and the smaller villages are the best part IMO.

Musee D'Orsay, The Catacombs, Luxemburg Gardens, Napoleon's Tomb and Hotel Invalides, Montemarte, Notre Dame are all some of my favorite attractions. But, I will say that alot of what I love about Paris is just what happens. Strolling along the Siene near the Latin Quarter and listening to the music for example. It is a very enchanting place for sure with some wonderful people.
No, not at all.

Mont St. Michel was pretty cool too.

better restaurant and hotels are really expensive. Lots of good food in Mom and Pop places. Lots of good lodging for less money if you look.
Depending on what you like to do, you can stay a month in Paris and not see everything.
Get a car and drive out of town. Countryside is pretty.
French people can be shits if you are. Learn a few French words. Practice them until you say the well and use them.
At times a French person will be able to speak English and will never admit it to you, because you refuse to speak any French to them.

Anyone been to Bordeaux? How is it? Anything there that is "must see/do?"

So a day to see Normandy, a day at the Palace, 2 days of Louvre, Tower, and arc. One day to just walk around?
