I say this not to complain. I love my job. I'm just trying to dispel some myths perpetrated by regular teachers.

Appreciate it, and what I've been saying is not pertaining to coaches. I can see their hours being in the 70+ range during sports seasons. Especially since many teach classes as well as coach after school hours.

For a reminder of how uneducated some OTers are, this thread really drives it home.

What in the hell are you talking about? Who is complaining? You really are a dumb individual. I responded to someone saying he still had Monday before summer break. I said we had a training day, which was an unpaid day (meaning we don't technically have to be there), but it was cancelled. No complaining.

This is the biggest problem with this message board. Morons always seem to ruin a conversation, and other idiots flock to his flawed rhetoric because they are too dumb to think for themselves or simply want to join an invalid argument because it makes them feel important.

Damn, some of you are worse than my students (16 year olds). How old are you?

If you are working 70 hours without coaching a sport then you are completely mismanaging your time. If you have to do that to be an effective teacher for 46k then damn son. I coach football and baseball and that takes up way more time then teaching. 7 years into in my lesson plans have been done for years. Scantron tests graded in seconds, quIzes graded by TA's, daily work is peer graded creating an effective learning device where they can hear the correct answer. I haven't graded anything since about 09. I would say the teaching aspect of my job requires about 25-28 hours a week. 4 classes a day. Maybe a hour or little less on top of that for tutorials, meetings etc. my principal says I'm a coach first teacher second. salary is about 75K.

Sure I am, since I'm the one claiming to work 70 hours as just a teacher then having colleagues coming in and saying I'm full of shite.

No complaining.

Then I'll own it and say I misinterpreted your message.

flawed rhetoric

Coming from a teacher claiming to work 60-70 hours a week on average.

How old are you?

Old enough and dumb enough to make double your salary.
