There is a lot of ignorance in this thread.

One is a very unique skill set that about 99% of the population doesn't have and people pay to see them. The other requires some education and training that most people can do.

Hell Lebron James is underpaid playing salary wise.

Stop complaining about pay. You work 9 months out of the year.

What about teachers that work in year-round school districts?

Especially for the unfortunate children who'd have the bad luck to get you for a teacher.

I go no real beef with you personally, I just feel the need to call you on this. You obviously have no clue what's involved, and how -rare- the ability is to relate to today's kids. Your obvious arrogance would be your downfall. I'd bet large that any class room you walk into would become a zoo.

There may be a lot of teachers, but the number of really good teachers is a tiny fraction of the total.

Yes. Would I want to? No.

There's not a right answer to that.

Place kids in classes according to their performance. All the kids who do well in a subject are in a class together. All the kids who are "in the middle" in a subject are in a class together. All the kids who do poorly in a subject are in a class together. That way the classes are not too easy for the smart ones, and not too hard for the kids that perform poorly.

This can be said of literally any industry.

Nope, I'd be fired after a day.

Yeah, but they chose that career path.

Reinstitute corporal punishment.

Then it depends on what they make. If it's not enough i would try to move to a better district.

My sister got tired of making 30k in her small town so she worked to get on in the katy school district making almost 60k now. It's about an hour drive but worth it.
