Tammany trace questions for riders

Rode Tammany trace from Mandeville for about 14 miles and doubled back so 28 miles. Question total trail is 31 miles from Covington to Slidell. I'm not quite ready to bike 62 miles, so how would someone essentially bike from Covington to Slidell without the use of two cars or bike 62 miles?
Just curious

I don't think you'll be able to get around not using a car or bus in lieu of a bike.
Mandeville to Slidell and back would be about 40 miles. That would be a good start to get up to the full length.
Best part about out and back is you can turn around when you want to hit the miles you think you can do.

No we rode about 10 miles from Mandeville and then turned back so essentially 20 miles. Based upon the Internet the trail is actually 27 miles and the distance from Covington to Mandeville is 6 miles and the balance is from Mandeville to Slidell.
I was just thinking that maybe more experienced bikers can cover the 27 miles one-way but getting back would be another story.

Does Uber cover the whole area?

Sorry - just don't think I can bike the whole 54 miles (27x2) and wanted to know if other riders just put it at a particular point and just rode until they were fatigued and turned back

Most people, myself included, pick up the trail and just ride 1/2 their intended distance and turn around.
Wife did the whole thing for a training ride, though. But she picked it up right in the middle near Mandeville.

Paddle till you halfway tired then turn around..... You'll be all the way tired when you get home.

The teleports should be up in running at all trail heads by late 2016.

Ok. Yes that's the norm. People go whatever distance they feel comfortable going so just figure how far you want to bike and just turn around at the halfway point.

Also you don't have to start at Covington or Slidell. Pull up the Trace website and it will show you starting places, etc.

Yea. We pick it up at Sharp Rd. usually

Ok thx all - since I'm not from the area I thought it was just easier to start from Mandeville- but I'll keep the suggestions in mind. We really enjoyed it - it would be nice if Baton Rouge had something similar - riding on the levee gets old.

In Mandeville, we usually start by Mandeville playground/kids konnection or by Our Lady of the Lake (Girard)

That's also a good thing about the Trace. You can start in different place and go in different directions to mix it up. Like stopping in Abita to grab a bite.
