Everyone says benefits and they're not wrong but consider these things

1. Check the insurance. Is the insurance actually worth a shite. That matters.

2. PTO is a non-issue. I have never had PTO and won't for at least 7 months. It suxks and you start going a little crazy and your work might suffer but i mean, if you're hourly, taking time off is the last of your concerns. You should be aiming to impress.

3. As other people have said, does your job contribute? If not, you can open your own 401k. Not sure exactly how it works but it's possible.

4. How much is a $6 increase. Do you get overtime often?

Can't you stay on your parents insurance until you're 26? Take the increase in pay and save if so

Do you pay your parents anything for housing and/or food? Right after school, I lived at home for awhile and paid 100.00/month.

take increase in $6 per hour with no benifits

That's like an additional $12k a year.

Does the retirement have a pension? Or matching 401k? Also the higher your pay is (which I can't imagine is very high if you don't have benefits), the less appealing that $12k looks.

Why are you still living at home?

And as a nurse you better have decent insurance coverage and short term disability. If you work on the floor and get hurt outside of work (break a hand, foot, etc)....you won't be able to work. Short term dis is crucial then.

Can you afford to not work for 6 weeks while your broken bone is healing?

Common misconception

Male nurses are banging 10xs more poon than the physicians. Most of the physicians are are married, the ones that aren't bar hoping with 21yr old immature chicks.

Not if you work in a teaching hospital.

I've seen a few hot young residents that were single and fricking several different nurses from the hospital.

Some are no doubt, but on average the large majority physicans aren't fricking all the nurses, even the residents.

More nurses are hooking up with other nurses, firemen or cops.

Smart move, you will be glad you did when you get older and see that retirement money grow

I wish I would have started retirement savings earlier. As a new nurse I didn't cause I wanted to make more money.

The answer is to do travel nursing assignments all over the country getting expenses paid and double what you are per hour in Louisiana. You are 22 with nothing holding you back. Easy decision imo
