T-Mobile is awesome

They now allow unlimited streaming without it counting against data plans.
I pay about $110 a month for unlimited everything and 2 gigs of hotspot data. That 2 gigs can get eating up if I stream netflix on my tv through the hotspot. I binged Jessica Jones this past week, and after the 13th episode wondered why my 2 gigs were not used up. Now I know.
Pretty sweet deal. I don't need home wifi, a router, or any off it at all now. My cable is part of my rent, so now, thanks to T-mobile, $110 a month covers everything. Unlimited data, phone, text, streaming movies, Internet on all tvs, laptops, or ipad anywhere, etc. And nothing is throttled. fricking HD streaming is flawless with zero buffering or even a one second glitch over 13 hours of jessica jones.
If Tmobile reception is good where you are (it's actually better than verizon according to root metrics in my area), Tmobile is so much better than the other carriers, it isn't even fair to call them competition for me.
ETA: Link to Tmobile ceo telling others to frick off on the new free streaming they have added to people's accounts (without even having to ask them to).

Honestly, I travel monthly and have never had a problem. Granted it is mostly to big cities - NY, Vegas, Houston. But when I go home, Orange Beach, it works fine there too, although my parents verizon is better in OB.

Their coverage is garbage.
I built a house for a T-Mobile exec. in Issaquah Washington literally miles from their headquarters and he had zero reception at his new house.
I found the situation to be extremely humorous especially when I had to lend him my Verizon phone to call his wife one day while going through decisions on his house.

Everyone has different experiences with carriers. My understanding is that every carrier is good in a metro area, it's out in the boonies where Verizon and att earn their reputations. In regards to OP, T-Mobile used to be dead last in all the consumer reports but they have definitely turned things around and aren't much farther behind Verizon.
I live in Los Angeles and have used a few carriers and ironically sprint had the best data coverage for me by far. I had T-Mobile and while they had excellent data speeds, coverage was poor in my office building. I'm now with Verizon and their voice coverage is significantly better than sprint, but for some reason my data service is very quirky.
T-Mobile, sprint and att now offer wifi calling which is an excellent feature.

Which violates the concept of net neutrality and threatens the current paradigm of an open internet.
Even worse, by activating this "feature", you're effectively allowing T-Mobile to throttle all of your video content (even from sources that aren't zero rated).

Netflix is a zero rated partner and the video is streamed - so that video probably isn't being throttled. A video streaming startup that has little recognition, however, would have its video throttled. And, any video that you decide to actually download will be throttled, irrespective of whether or not the content provider is partnered with T-Mobile.
Now, let's say T-Mobile decides to extend this policy to actual web pages - meaning that visiting ESPN on your phone won't count against your data cap, but Tigerdroppings will.
Sounds fun, doesn't it?

You can just get a truly unlimited plan and nothing is throttled. Binge on is nice for people who use a lot of data and don't wanna pay for unlimited. I use over 50gbs some months so I just got the truly unlimited plan with no throttling.
T-Mobile is great and has improved. They upgraded their entire edge 2g network to 4g LTE. Last year they did a spectrum swap with Verizon wireless and acquired licenses for 700mhz spectrum to cover 170 millon pops. They in return gave up AWS spectrum to Verizon in certain markets to allow them to complete their "XLTE network ".
The only people who say T-Mobile sucks in rural areas are people who have not tried it recently or are using a dated phone that does not have band 12 to take advantage of the 700mhz spectrum that has much deeper building penetration and has helped T-Mobile fill in gaps in rural areas.
I use the Nexus 6p and and get LTE 95 % of the time when traveling. Places that used only get 2g now have 4g LTe.
T-Mobile CEO John Legere blasted Root Metrics for using a dated device that did not show the progress that hadcmade in 2015. He said it was purposely done and I believe him.
There are over 35 carriers in this country and 85% of all profits go to two carriers.
