From my understanding it succeeded initially under the original CEO but failed when the next CEO abandoned it for political reasons. As a result of the market vacuum, they've been forced into competition with new competitors and decided to bring it back.
The results of the second surge attempt are yet to be known.

It is in Gas Stations now. At least at the Chevron I stopped at in Vestavia this morning. 16 oz cans for 99 cents.
