looks like fun...then you get slammed into a reef

Cant imagine what that would do to your hip socket.

would have been much worse had he fallen into the bottom of that swell. He fell right in the middle and probably came out the backside

Meh...

It was either that or be arrested by undercover FBI.

Wonder how many feet he fell.

Closest wipeout I will ever experience.

This time of year, you could hear the waves hitting from 10-15 miles away. The white foam surf was 15-20 feet high. Unreal.

Why the frick was he leashed?

I don't surf, but wouldn't that help to point you in the direction of the surface?

I do surf. Leashes keep your board with you after a Wipeout.
However in big waves most people forgo leashes because it just drags you around in the washing machine

Correct. Though not for certain, the theory is big-wave surfer Mark Foo got tangled in his leash when he was killed at Maverick's about 20 years ago.

Two options.
1) I'm the only one that got it
2) It wasn't funny even though I thought it was
Not sure which.

Obviously we are the only two posters with the talent to catch subtle pop culture references because that shite was funny.

Getting put through the washing machine sucks
One time I was under the water for 30 seconds or so as two big 10'ers crested on top of me out of nowhere. As long as you're a strong swimmer and can hold your breath for a minute or more you're golden
