Looks like a pretty stellar booby trap..

I would like to see it tested. I hope he has a video camera set up.

The guy is selling bird houses out of a gas station. If I were him, I'd rather use the shotgun on myself.

Well the trigger appears to be hooked up to the Little Debbie cart but then the victim would have to be standing by the candy rack, all while someone has to try and steal a cold drink? I'm skeptical

You are absolutely not allowed to set booby traps for would-be robbers. There's a famous case about it, which coincidentally, involved a shotgun trap.

John Church's class? Booby trap killed a maintenance guy poking his head through the back door.
The body sat out there for months while until finally the neighbors called the cops. Home owner said he didn't really notice any smells and hadn't been into the back of the house in a while.

You know an old man set up one of these ohh probably 25 years ago on Tams Dr. off N. Sherwood. His home had been broken into 2 times previously. His shotgun did kill a young person trying to break into his back porch door. This happened late in the year, and the old man left the dead guy there for a couple months until it began warming up and a neighbor reported the odor to police. They arrested the old man for the homicide, but I don't recall how the trial went.

I thought it was a crossbow and it was off Old Hammond Hwy.

It was on Tams drive, I lived less than a block away at the time, Knew the thief who was killed, The kids dad was a friend of the guy who set the bobby trap. The body stayed out there for months until some kids cutting grass found him. He had been dumping cat litter on the body to cover the smell. If I remember correctly old man was found guilty and served a little time.

Who leaves a body on their back porch for NINE months?!? Maybe he left it there for its deterrent effect.
My favorite part of the article is the cop saying that they don't know if Cavell was attempting to burglarize the home, but "he had socks on both hands, and that's unexplained."
