The drones were actually filmed earlier this week, as Intel confirmed to The Verge. That includes Gaga’s intro sequence, which saw her dancing in front of an American flag, and later a 10-second spot that featured the drones as they changed from the Pepsi to Intel logos.

Restrictions placed on the area by the Federal Aviation Administration forbid drones from flying within a 34.5-mile radius of the NRG Stadium, in addition to other rules that bar drones from hovering too high, or from doing acrobatic maneuvers directly above hundreds of thousands of people.

Wow, I wasn't sure how they had done that, I assumed she was just in front of a screen during that portion.
Very cool how they made that happen though

Intel and Disney have been coordinating together on this tech for a few years now. Disney unveiled a drone show with the same technology this past Christmas at their Disney Springs shopping & dining district in Orlando.

What's the story on the fat dude with glasses crying meme? I've seen it for years as Ryno's avatar, but have yet to stumble across an origin. He givin' his testimony or something?

It's a guy getting weepy at some wrestling convention.
EDIT: I guess convention is putting it a little too strongly though

You know I figured that was studio trickery and that nobody at the game actually saw that crap, but all I've heard all morning is how awesome the drones were.
