My LG picture went out. Still have sound and can change channels. Just no picture. Not sure what the deal is but I'm sure it's not a cheap fix. Gonna go ahead and probably go buy a new one today.

Don't want another LG, obviously. I have a 50" and would like to stay at that or a 55". Who has the best?

Sharp Aquos has some great big screen tvs at awesome prices. You can even find 80" for under $3K (I paid twice that when they first came out ).

What's your budget?

Do you have a backup that will get you through to Black Friday?

You can ask on the Tech Board for an in-depth answer that will include side arguments about 4K but a common recommendation is to get a Samsung, especially from COSTCO if possible. There will always be someone who will criticize a particular tv. Just pick a solid name brand with the features that are important to you and in your budget.

This is the OT. You are making WAY too much sense.

I have a backup that I took from the bedroom and moving the guest room tv to the bedroom for now.

I'm leaning towards unlimited budget and just saving for the best of the best. I could save and pay the same amount for something I've had but if I save that much, my thinking is why not save some more and get the best.

I'm interested in the new curved tvs. Not sure though. Definitely going to look at Sony and Samsung this time around though.

Don't get a Vizio.
I had a 70" that went out a few months after the warranty. It couldn't be fixed. They offered me 10% off of a model of THEIR choosing, not mine. Not to mention I could get the same model cheaper on Amazon.

frick them in their stupid asses.

I want to get the Sony Bravia 48" but don't know if I can wait til Christmas sales. Means I have to go through whole college football season without it.

I'm also interested in smart tvs and/or tvs with remotes that can control my soundboard too.

I fixed one a few weeks ago for about $110 for part and shipping. Unless you're just dying to get a new TV this might help.
