This. Go somewhere where form and function are king and this is what you'll find. If I lived in CO and didn't have multiple kids I would get one.

This is the Forrester stereotype, not the Outback.

I have the SR5 "premium" package and it is nice. Has extra bells and whistles which the base model does not.

4runners suck, and I drive one. They ride like shite. They are reliable but they have zero comfort.

No, because they aren't even comparable vehicles. Totally different.

That's because the majority of the people that drive them are doing it for looks and not for the intended purpose of the vehicle.
They are designed to be able to roll off the lot and be used for moderate off roading and towing. Yet most people just wanted a rugged looking daily driver.

We have a Subaru Legacy, and essentially the outback is just an SUV body on the Legacy frame, at least that's what the dealer told us. So if you're looking for a "true" SUV, definitely go with the 4-runner.

It'll be a crossover, but when the Subaru Viziv arrives I bet a lot of people (including myself) who never really considered Subaru are going to take another look

I have always liked Subarus. I like the Legacy a lot.

If you are a Butchy Lesbian or a Liberal go with the Subaru.

The Toyota 4Runner aka Toyota Hilux Surf in other countries is the preferred vehicle of insurgents worldwide. It's almost indestructible. Why Rebel Groups Love the Toyota Hilux

Never owned a Subaru. I've owned two 4Runners. I wouldn't hesitate to own another. Never had a single maintenance issue with either. Great vehicles.

No, I wouldn't dream of cross shopping the two and I own a 5th Gen 4runner.

Both solid utilitarian vehicles... 4Runner has that roll down back window though
Subaru probably has more creature comforts for the price.
