Spanking works. Not saying take your day out on them. But if they do not listen, and consistently disobey, then they need to be corrected. And if "timeout" or whatever else doesn't work, and a couple slaps on the behind does, then that is what is required.

You know the only two parenting options are not:
1. Spank
Or
2. Give child everything without consequences.
You know that right? Spanking is lazy parenting. I'm not saying it's not effective sometimes, but it's lazy.

In my experience establishing what a butt whoopin is early, and establishing a fear and respect of that butt whoopin early will result in less actual butt whoopin going forward.

That kid needs a better parent.
Fits like that in public are a symptom of a problem. Spanking will address that symptom but not the underlying problem.
If I was sneezing because of a bacterial infect in my lungs and the doctor kept giving me anti-sneezing medication, that's great that I'll stop sneezing but it did nothing for the underlying infection, which if cured, would've stopped the sneezing anyway

My classmates and I are fricked because we spent Junior High getting beaten like rented mules. There was a designated coach who would be called into any class to literally beat your arse (and not with his hand).

At some point all children will throw a fit like that in public. They will test their limits and misbehave. Saying that a person is a terrible parent because their child had an instance of misbehaving is naive or dishonest.
