Strange sequence of events surrounding an otherwise peaceful death...

Open for interpretation.
This was relayed to me by the person who was standing in the room at the time this all happened.
Backstory:
An elderly woman had been battling cancer for a while. The doctors finally told her children she was down to her last week and it was time to move her to hospice care for her last few days. They move her and bring her lap dog, because the hospice is more about comfort in your last days than medical care and treatment.
Anyway, she had been laying there about 3 or 4 days. She was unaware of her surroundings, and unable to identify even the closest of family members due to the pain medication, etc. She had not spoken much at all, but when she did it was barely understandable as it was extremely slurred.
Family members were taking turns sitting with her and about 2 am on the 5th day it was time for a shift change. Two family members showed up to relieve the one on the late night shift, so there were 3 people who witnessed this...
Out of no where the dog starts growling and the family members try to quiet the dog for obvious reasons. No dice. The growling turns into aggressive barking and then mournful wolf like howling. At that instant, the old lady sat up in the bed, wide eyed and exclaimed "Oh Lord Jesus, please have mercy on me!!!" in a crystal clear yet "terrified" voice as described by the witness.
She laid right back down, unresponsive again, and died about an hour later.
I guess the biggest questions are, what do you think she hallucinated/saw? Was it a good sign or bad? What was up with the dog?

She was going to hell, being escorted by demons it sounds like.

Legitimate statement to make when you see Jesus. Walk toward the light, lady.

Cool story. Fascinating. Maybe a demon came for her.

I've always thought that IF some other realm exists, dogs can sense it. No idea why, but I've seen dogs key in on things that we can't see with our eyes. Strange, but I'm sure it's explainable.

No idea. Could have had a moment of lucidity and known her time was up. Could have hallucinated something scary and called on Jesus for protection.

Animals can tell when a person is on their way out. There's a nursing home cat who snuggles up against dying patients and always shows up when they have a few hours left.

She was incoherent. She was probably simply startled by the noise. The dog is a dog. They bark and growl.

Fake
I can personally guarantee it's not. The witness was a daughter of hers, why would she make up this story? With two other people to vouch... Not to mention, my interpretation as well as theirs wasn't a positive one.

Her body was about to go, and her reflexes were trying on last time to "recover". Her body was able to drum up enough energy to spew out whatever her body could do.
The dog sensed an increase in blood pressure, probably her breathing became more intense for that short period of time.
I can believe this story, but it's nothing divine.

obviously the dog sensed the divine intervention and was pissed that it woke him up.

Something definitely happens.

I believe humans do have an adrenaline release just before a natural death that can cause lucidity in an otherwise doped out person. The dog could probably sense / smell that.

Nothing happens
Billions and billions of deaths, not one concrete piece of evidence ever...you'd think a loved one would appear to those left behind to reassure them
