Gee two cities built on swamp land that recently had citizens comment in their papers claiming BR shouldn't rebuild because we are stupid for building here "under sea level"

really wondering why they only upped it to 40mph.
Surface winds are slower than winds aloft. Since airplanes don't fly very well on the surface, they estimate the surface wind speeds from what they find at flight level.

Westward bumps continue and the early 18z guidance is west of the the NHC track now:

That is not good. Big move to the west.

It is not going to come to Louisiana. It is already making a move to the NNE so the easterly component is already there. It isn't going to turn back W. Just not possible with the setup currently. Since the turn has been made there is nothing for us to worry about.

Yea, given the current setup, it is probably as far west as it will ever be. The westward bumps in landfall are only of concern to people in Florida, esp. since earlier runs had this moving through a low population density area. Population density goes up as you move west along the coast, but even so, everything points to this staying pretty weak. Tallahassee could get the center and I'm sure there is a crab leg joke in there some place

derr. anyone paying half-attention knew it was moving further west than the "models" said.
Shame for forecast model was removed by the admins.
