Guys who's wives are the breadwinners. I have a friend in Charlotte who worked for an accounting firm for 6 years while his wife was in med school. Well him and his wife just decided it would be better for him to stay at home and take care of the house and kids. This is been going on for a year now. He pretty much gets everyone up and makes breakfast then plays golf a few days a week. I think I can handle this.

Anyone else in this situation. Don't be embarrassed I, personally, envy you.

I wouldn't mind being a stay at home dad at all.

I have a full time job working from home.

I have no issues with this arrangement.

This is what I would want or to own a bar down the street from my house.

I'm retiring in three weeks at age 50. I'll be a house husband until I get bored and go back to work.

I've never had an unemployed day in my life since age 16. I'm looking forward to it.

I am in the same exact situation. Wife is a doctor and I stay at home. I do everything a stay at home mom does as well as house projects, car maintenance, lawn maintenance etc

Govt job with pension? I'm 51 and shooting for retirement at 55, but that means i have to save to bridge myself to 59.5.

If I had a pension job, I would retire the first day I could collect, then go do something else.

I'm like this to an extent. I have 6 days off and off every other day. I'm the stay at home dad. My wife makes 2.5X more than me and works a regular 8-5 m-f schedule

I'm doing just that. I get my pension and healthcare for life.

I already have a driving job lined up. I'll be an independent contractor who delivers small aircraft parts.

I can't wait. 12/31 is my last day.

I'd freaking love it. I would have to take up wood working or bull riding though to keep my man card.

I would do it but I can guarantee your "friend's" wife will be cheating on in him in 2 years.

Yeah I'm not sure how that relationship could work long term with the role reversal unless the wife is a bleeding heart liberal feminist and gets off seeing a man doing housework and feeling important.

Me neither, but I am 41. I have had a least one job for the last 25 years. I did take a 6 month vacation but I was still technically employed just not receieving a paycheck.

I plan to retire at 46, but it might just end up being a career change.

To OP, I have had friends that did this. It was a different situ though as both of them had zero career options.

I have a friend that is in school right now/sahd but that is different. he hates it.

There is no way I would want to be a full time house dad. I would at least have a part time job or manage some rental properties or something.

No. But I don't think I could just hang around the house without a job with some kind of set schedule. My liver wouldn't last but a couple years in that situation.
