During WWII the Japanese Emperor wanted to invade our Mainland. The commanding general told him if we do that there will be an American enemy behind every blade of grass. I would join the real military though if someone invaded.

There is no historical record of this quote.

On topic, yes, I would join a militia in a crisis. But, as someone else alluded to, we're already fricked if it comes to that.

It has been attributed to the Prange files which is the files of the late Gordon W. Prange, chief historian on the staff of Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

But not substantiated, and generally considered to be false. I do agree with the sentiment, though.

If you own a rifle, you are the militia.

the founders' idea of a militia is akin to the modern day national guard.
a modern day militia is usually a gun enthusiast group composed of people crazier than branch dividians.
my answer is no. if the shite hits the fan, we get invaded and duty calls, I'd rather go back into the army.

Join a faux-military group of people who couldn't get into the military? No thanks.

I laugh my arse off every time I see footage of these asshats conducting "maneuvers" in some forest or wooded area behind Bubba's house. Bunch of fat guys wearing mis-matched camo and hiding behind logs and trees, slamming themselves on the ground to find cover. Just like the movies...

Don't want to post the full wiki quote excerpt?

It has been declared this attribution is "unsubstantiated and almost certainly bogus, even though it has been repeated thousands of times in various Internet postings. There is no record of the commander in chief of Japan’s wartime fleet ever saying it.", according to Brooks Jackson in "Misquoting Yamamoto" at Factcheck.org (11 May 2009), which cites Donald M. Goldstein, sometimes called "the dean of Pearl Harbor historians", writing "I have never seen it in writing. It has been attributed to the Prange files [the files of the late Gordon W. Prange, chief historian on the staff of Gen. Douglas MacArthur]".

The modern day Guard is nothing like what the Founding Fathers envisioned or intended. There's far more centralized federal control over the Guard than they wanted.

The switch from State Militias to the National Guard was just one of a series of political moves (17th amendment was another example) by progressives designed to crush the individual states' power so the power of the federal government could grow. Their longterm endgame has always been the transformation of the US into a European style Socialist state. Yes, that's right, the process to turn this country "red" has been going on since the turn of the 20th century. Step by slow step, the progressives, or as some call them now "liberals", have patiently been working to slowly drag this country to socialism. They've just about got it now for all intents and purposes.
