Looks like he was weaving a bit.

in your office, what happens if you get a wreckless operation charge slapped on you?
Do they make you do office work and pull you off the streets??

I was expecting to watch a video of an officer tapping the back of a bike or something after seeing that no charges were filed. Not that. Do they have a way to know how fast he was going? Seemed that he hit them and kept going for a good bit to try to slow down.

Exactly what I was expecting too. Looks like he was weaving, and took forever to stop.
That's just pathetic.

I just like that he goes to look at the front of his car like he cares more about that than the people he almost killed..

OH wait... He does

I am going to give the city/locality/whatever the benefit of the doubt that they are conducting a comprehensive investigation as to what happened before deciding what charges should be brought.

I would be interested to know what the speed limit on that road is, how fast the officer and the victims were traveling, and if the officer was distracting himself with a device.

If he was in the wrong here (which I cannot help but believe to be true from what I can see) and no charges are filed, this would be a case (unlike Zimmerman) where a public outcry should influence the filing of charges.

Regardless.. Shouldn’t the officer's FIRST response be to go to help the people he almost killed? NOT yell.. Are you ok? Then run to the front of the cruiser to check out the damage?

the video was cut and edited. we did not see if he went to check on the people before or after checking on his car/putting out the fire.

21:46:20 He stated Are you alright

21:47:12 He is looking at the front of his car.

Yep edited. So in the missing 50 seconds he got out of his car. Maybe checked on them and then checked out his car.

I knew before I even read the OP that this officer would have no repercussions for this

I'd hope...but wasn't there a case in Slidell where an officer killed a family of 3 doing 90 in a 70 without his lights and he got off clean?

my dad nailed someone on a motorcycle once. It was night and he didn't see him stop.

The bike was under the SUV and my dad was trying to pull it out because he thought he killed the guy. The guy comes up behind him and asked if he needed a hand

He had been thrown to the wet ditch a little bit ahead.

I find that unlikely. Charges? None of us have any idea without all the facts. I am curious as to what he would be charged with. If I came upon an MVA like that with civilian car and driver, there would be no charges unless they were intoxicated. Charging people for motor vehicle accidents is a dangerous road to go down outside of mitigating circumstances such as impairment.

On to his civil liability, there will be repercussions for sure. For the agency as well. That is what insurance is for.
