I agree. But is changing the name of a coon hunt really worth burning St Jude to the ground?

just shows how absurd things have gotten. They obliged with your initial request and then you take it to another level. Are you really so worried about offending animal right nutbags that you'll turn down helpful donations? Things must be going well over there for you guys.
They do great work, but they're way in the wrong here.

This is the OT. Fighting the easily outraged culture by getting easily outraged at the first thing they hear without any fact checking.
But it's everybody else that's too sensitive!

St Jude's must think so.

Ranked #5 by size, you may want to look a bit deeper at some of the provided numbers in your link.
There is no doubt that the hospital does great work but it's fundraising efficiency has been raising a few eyebrows lately. There are other/better opions in children's hospitals

The OP says they have threatened to refuse. Is that wrong or has St Jude backed off?

It's just some PC idiots on the board doing this. It's not enough to be offended at things that some people find offensive. They are now actively searching for things that people might twist and stretch to be offended by.
What a weird America. Free speech is dead.

Isn't it more racist for St. Jude's to associate coon with racism??
Posted on 3/2/16 at 9:36 am to Master of Sinanju
St. Jude threatened to refuse the donations if Coon wasn't changed. The group obliged and St. Jude asked for the other change. The group stood their ground on the "hunt/festival" part and the media got wind of the story. St. Jude then gave a press release after the backlash that they would not refuse the donations (now that Coon has been changed).

True. They just don't want to put their name on some stuff.
But a traditional deal like this coon hunt begs for a dose of common sense from someone in the upper ranks of their fundraising.
