Leaving the office, there is an intersection where a two lane one way road must take a right onto two lanes of another one way road. So both the left and right lane can and must turn right.

I get in the left lane since I need to be in the left lane after the turn. Most times, I'll have a car come up in the right lane and when traffic is clear, we both go to take a right turn, myself to the left lane and the other car to the right. But I always have to be careful since some cars will try to crossover all the way to the left lane and cut me off or hit me. Is there a written rule that either party has the right of way to a specific lane?

I believe only the far right lane has the right to turn right on red. When green, both lanes should proceed into their corresponding lane.

If I'm reading you right this sounds a lot like parts of Guntersville, AL where I'm from and still visit often. Both cars can go at the same time but should remain in their own lanes.

Idk but common sense says the car closest to that lane has right of way

Gotta stay in your respective lane.

See above for reference. It is a stop sign and we are turning on to a street that does not stop.

OK, Yeah, this is the exact same as the intersection in Guntersville I was thinking about except there you're turning to the right. That being the case, if there are two cars there, then both cars can go at the same time. They just have to remain in their own lane. There should be lines separating the two lanes through the turn. It should look something like this in the intersection....

(I know this intersection is different. But it was the only one i could find showing the lane separators through the intersection)

Sounds like a poorly designed intersection... but definitely both lanes should maintain their position.

This. I have been in a situation like this. I like to go the same speed to mess with the people trying to cut in.

Yeah, there are no lines to designate lanes. And I actually just realized, we are turning onto a 3 lane road, so there's the whole "who has the right to the middle lane" question. It's not a 4 way stop though. It is a T intersection. I always go to the far outside and let them have the inner two, but every once in a while someone get's the bright idea to jet across everything from the inside lane.

Sounds like when I turn right onto Airline from Coursey. I always get into the left-hand lane and people drift into me.

Right, Sparky. Turning and staying the same speed with the other turning car doesn't mean you will be right alongside the other car the whole time

Dude you took that way too literal. I will speed up or slow down to prevent them from getting over. They should get in the proper lane before the turn like everyone else.
