Yeah, that's just not even close to accurate.

Many large companies have moved to Austin which has led to a population/economic boom, ACL Fest was created in 2002, more restaurants have moved in and the suburbs are expanding quickly as well. It's been a significant improvement for people who are new to the city or haven't been in a long time. Long-time locals want people to stop moving here.

I'm definitely not saying Montgomery is great, half decent, or even livable but it's improved from 15 years ago when it sucked worse.

I would think that many would be greatly improved since the early 90s. Little Rock was a complete shite hole back then.

I was elevated enough. It didn't solve the homeless problem

Many cities have grown in population, few have experienced revitalization of substantial degree. It's important to understand the difference.

Austin has grown tremendously in every way and has improved it's public services, transportation and accessibility to the world.

Durham, NC has undergone urban revitalization that has improved livability, that otherwise would have fallen to the ghetto.

Agreed. Little Rock could have become Jackson, but forward thinking saved it. During the 90s, the city of Jackson didn't invest in urban revitalization or infrastructure improvements until the city's tax base had abandoned it. Those residents left by the thousands in the 90s and 2000s.

Now, they are investing in a city of virtual ruins, in which the infrastructure is in major disrepair, and no one lives where they once did. A water line is bursting somewhere in the city, literally every other day, spewing thousands, to hundreds of thousands of gallons of water all over the place. Some roads have holes big enough to hide one or two people entirely from view.

Pretty sad, since Jackson was once a great southern city a long time ago.

NOLA is no question better than it was 10-20 years ago. Same with Nashville, Birmingham, etc.

The only Southern cities that have declined are Jackson, maybe Baton Rouge, and border cities in TX.

Pretty much all of them. The massive national drop in crime has made cities far better places to live and has revitalized downtowns that were burned out and left for dead. LA, New York, and Washington DC are completely different places than they were 20 years ago.
