Spinoff: Is testosterone/hormone replacment therapy covered by insurance ?

I have never looked into it but I am in my early forties so I am sure my hormone levels are on the decline. I am in good health and work out and run daily but I wouldn't mind some of the health benefits hormone replacement therapy yield but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg. Just curious if most insurance covers this under the Obamacare guidelines. Also does anyone here take testosterone by prescription and what have been your results? I know they give you much smaller doses than you would take on a bodybuilding cycle but I figure you would get gradual results over a long time frame. TIA

Such as? Unless your levels are in the gutter you shouldn't be messing with your hormones, bro.

Testosterone is cheap, dude. Androgel and all the topical stuff is very expensive, but if you are willing to inject yourself, it is not expensive.
And to answer your question, I have no idea what your insurance covers.

Testosterone replacement for a guy that doesn't have a problem is a bit unethical. Especially since the treatment comes with life threatening side effects.

I don't believe it is because the few guys I know who do it complained about the price and eventually went black market for their stuff.

I figured it was expensive so I never really looked into it. Just wasn't sure if Obamacare might require it to be covered now.

Yes, it is covered under my insurance plan.

Of course they are, but that doesn't mean your test levels are not within normal imits.

I know a guy that can get cheaper than probably your deductible

I can to but I would only be interested in doing it at therapy levels if that and I know I would end up doing more if I got it on my own.

So tell us why we have to put up with those normal limits, doc.

From everything I have heard it is pretty easy if you go to a doc that specializes in this.

What is considered normal? My pa said I had normal levels when I was 30. All the levels were at the bottom level of normal.
He never cared to explain it. He was too busy trying to chapter himself out the army

The doc is not going to just give it to you just because you ask for it. You will need to take a blood test and your level will need to be very low before you get a scrip.
That's cute. I see you don't pay attention to our modern-day pharmaceutical industry.

Ok but would 240 be normal for a 20 year old male who weight trains heavily or normal for a 50 year old who is 50 pounds overweight no exerciser etc.
