Do you automatically assume that something is immoral just because there is a law against it, or do you use your own judgment and common sense before making this determination? Are people stupid enough to believe that literally all laws are in effect for the benefit of the public? Do people not understand that many MANY laws are unjust, unfair, and are passed to control the masses and benefit the wealthy and politically connected?

Nah. Some people just haven't caught up with modern times. Sodomy isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

No, there are probably more legal things that I find unethical.

Well since you know so much about this, why don't you try and change the laws? Until you do that, they're still immoral to break.

This might be the dumbest thing I've ever read.

"And then Jesus said to his disciples, don't slow down for some BS speed limit. Satan can't catch you if you're doing at least 80. Push it to the floor, baby."

Why, because I suggested changing the laws? That's how democracy works, laws can change.

A good example is what just happened in Ohio. They tried to pass a law that would legalize marijuana, but they hand-picked a few already wealthy individuals that would be able to sell it. Giving people the choice between going to jail for smoking or allowing the state to monopolize the buy and sell of marijuana to benefit the wealthy and obviously politically connected is in itself very morally and ethically wrong in my opinion. There are many more examples, but this one seems to be a hot topic today.

ETA: So to get it straight, the politicians in Ohio are perfectly fine with legalizing marijuana as long as the money goes to the right pockets. It's bullshite.

Of course not. But I do recognize that there is some ethical obligation to follow laws that don't conflict with my conscience or moral code--no matter how superfluous or silly they seem to me (most highway speed limits below 80mph, for instance). And if I do choose to disobey a law because it's unethical or immoral, I should be prepared to suffer the legal consequences (as is the obligation of most anyone who chooses civil disobedience).

Yes I'm a mindless social conservative automaton. I hate the government and am busy building a bunker for when they come for my guns but at the same time I think pot should be steeply criminalized by those same people because they say it is bad.

No, that's dumb. But if I think something is ethically or morally ok but it's illegal, I won't do it so I don't get in trouble.

Many regulations are about lining the pockets of politicians and their cronies.

Quite the opposite of 'moral'.

most things in life worth doing are illegal, immoral, or fattening.

A lot of laws make no sense. Marijuana is one, laws against Sodomy and oral sex are others.

Not at all. Some things that are illegal make no sense.
