Spinoff - Anyone remember calling the library's info hotline?

In the days before the internet, you could call this number and ask them for information or an answer for anything.

You could use it for legit questions, helpful for homework, or act like an idiot and call them and ask stupid stuff like what time it was in random cities.

I have heard of auburn having a hotline like that, never heard of a library having one though

I used it all the time for years and they always had an answer or pointed me to someone who did. It was a great service and they might even still have it.

Yes. Same here. Of course, Auburn students can't be expected to figure things out on their own.

Would be nice if they still had it. Even with internet resources, you still invest a good bit of time for certain questions. They would do the work free of charge.

I called for high school homework questions every now and then and they would look it up and if it took too much time they would do it and call back. I thought I was the slickest person around doing that.

The Lafayette library used to have a number where you could listen to a story. It was cool.

And research was a huge pain in the arse back then. Specializing in something like that meant a whole lot more than it does today.
