Has anybody have any experience with spinal cord stimulators? I've had two back surgeries and may need a third. I have had the epidural steroid shots and they have not worked as well as hoped. I'm trying to look at all the options before getting cut again.

One client has had excellent results as a control measure for back pain. Good luck.

Damn, good luck. My dad has had problems for years. The steroid shots tend to help him quite a bit but he uses a TENS sometimes and it seems to provide some relief.

We do quite a few of these in Mississippi. Some people say it is amazing and gives them back their life. Others say it didn't work at all.
They will put leads in, which is a minor procedure, then give you an external stimulator to try for a week or two. If it gives you relief then they will put in a permanent one.

Good Luck

The good thing about SCS Therapy is you get to trial the therapy before anything is implanted. Doc basically places 1 or 2 leads in the epidural space which act as an internal TENS unit. The good thing is you are stimulating on the nerve level instead of through muscle.

A couple of things that Medtronic offers that no other companies offer is that our systems are full body MRI compatible--meaning if you decide after the trial to have the system implanted you will still be eligible to have an MRI on any part of the body. Also--our systems automatically adjust stimulation based on your body's position.

Here is a link for you.....LINK

Two helicopter crashes later and years of nagging spinal issues, compression in the spine due to impact, the best medicine has been walking everyday like religion. In the end strengthening the stomach muscles help carry the upper body and takes some stress off the spine and related tissues.

All the Best

I had my permanent procedure this past Monday. The trial was a success. I choose the SCS implant in lieu of another fusion. The procedure wasn't too bad. The first couple if days are a real bitch. It feels like you got hit in the back with a night stick. Dr Sean Graham did mine and very happy with him. I had him put in a paddle lead facing down in my lower back to get good lower back coverage.

It would be the absolute last step after everything else has failed. Once you have one in, there is nothing much you can do after if it doesn't work well. I would put efficacy at about 50%
