Going to hit up the Spanish Town Parade for the first time Saturday (just moved here in May).

Few questions:
Best place to park?

Best area for party atmosphere?

How early do I need to get there to get a spot along the route?

Thanks

There is a field you can park in on Spanish Town just on the other side of the interstate. There are also parking garages downtown.

These can be exclusive. If you want to attend the parade just get there a few hours before and park down Spanish Town Road(east of 110) as far as you need to. Won't be more than a 5 min walk to the parade in the MIDDLE of the most festive stretch.

However, the party atmosphere AFTER the parade will move to 3rd street which is a much longer walk from your car. Just something to remember. I'd still park there and get a ride back to it 2-3 hours AFTER the parade. I wouldn't leave it over night in that area.

Just avoid the "alcohol free" zone around the Episcopalian church.

Good stuff, thanks.

How is the parade atmosphere by everything on 3rd St? I am familiar with the area around there as far as parking.

Do yourself a huge favor and just jump on 10 and head to Endymion. ST parade is shite and reminds me of Mobile Mardi Gras.

Meaning sucked. I lived in Mobile for carnival once and realized quickly how bad of an idea it was to even move there.

I've watched, been to the ball, and rode in the ST parade several times and can honestly say the only fun part was getting wasted. Nothing memorable at all.

Legit trashy. The real parties happen at houses in Spanish Town.

Good deal. That'll save me from that. I'll hit up Spanish Town Rd.

Mkay, you clearly have your nose in the air about the whole aspect of Spanish Town MG. But to each his own.

Which is the same for any parade......

You are riding in a float throwing plastic beads to wasted people. It is the same anywhere you go. Your NOLA elite butthurt is showing

This has got to be the first year that a NOLA vs BR thread has not popped up on this board the week before MG. What has gotten into the OT?
