It’s a little premature for a news channel to be running with this already.

But I guess that’s not as bad as Dr Josh H-chuss saying no way Baton Rouge gets snow while it was snowing in 2017.

Well he didn't use the "s" word, he just mentioned a potential for some cold weather and icy conditions throughout the end of the week and going into next week.

We haven’t had a real super cold snap since the 17-18 winter. It was 12 degrees in BR that January. That was after it snowed in December.

Bad graphic, but saw it come across. Weather guys, what are we looking at here? :itshappening: gif?

In the Southeast, if you wake up in the morning and it is snowing, then you can put faith in a snow forecast.

damn 6(ish) inches of snow in La, I've lived through a few ice storms and light snows in various places in the state, but idk if it has ever been that much. Snow is fine, its ice storms that can gfts.

Tbh I haven’t looked at anything recently. I turned my weather brain off during the Christmas break. But this thread made me fire up the ol college of dupage site so I’m checking things out now.

I used to follow a met on Twitter who was running/working on a really good winter weather model. Unfortunately, he liked talking politics and Covid more than weather it seemed, so I unfollowed. I'm going to have to try to find him again where I can at least bookmark his website.

The best is if you have a frozen layer around your blind so you can crush just enough for your spread and a little hole in the ice they can see from the sky. Like taking candy from a baby.

Snow is the hardest precipitation type to forecast.

The weather models jump all over the place with it.

Also it requires a perfect setup in the atmosphere in order for it to be snow, not freezing rain, sleet, etc..

Laughable for Southern snow predictions. One literally cannot trust a 6 hour in advance Southern snow forecast, let alone 6 day forecast.

Last snow we got in MS the weather guy kept saying no snow just a cold rain and then it snowed 8 inches in about 8 hours

The surface low track ended up trending NW over the last 36hrs of model runs, along with the best forcing. So wind profiles were not favorable and it ended up just being some heavy rain. We were able to work around the rain, do fireworks and not injure anyone in the process.
