So Sony is really a terrible company since you are technologically challenged. Makes sense - thanks for sharing yours and supposedly Sony's shortcomings. Good luck with the rest of your life. I foresee a lot of posts from you bashing other companies in the future.

Sony still sucks, anyway. Blu rays are already hacked, why require firmware updates? Sony was the primary company muddying the waters and heavily promoting blu ray over HD DVD.

Blu-ray was a pretty dumb idea imo. But the people who bought into it are even dumber.

Threaten them with violence, they'll do whatever you want.

I have a wifi enabled Sony BluRay player. You can go into settings to check for an update, but it typically will do it automatically.

All players have issues like this with new copy protection schemes, and the solution is to update the firmware. Your post unfortunately left out the model number, so there is no way anyone can check this independently.

When did a Blue-Ray player become expensive equipment?

This was a reason why the PS3 was considered one of the best BluRay players on the market for a long time. They continuously updated the software to support the latest stuff, it provided a very good picture and it also gave you a lot of other media options.

As for your problem, what connections do you have on it? If you don't have a way to get it online, you might have a usb slot you can put a firmware update on and go that route.

So Sony is a bad company because you have outdated technology?
