I always found this compelling: Apostles, who had no reason to die after Jesus was crucified and ascended, continued with their convictions at the cost of their lives. Why? These people witnessed the life and actions of Jesus to actually know he was truly the Son of God.

How many people would willingly be crucified, stoned, beheaded today, if the only qualification to earn your freedom and your life is denying Jesus as the Son of God? It's crazy when you think about human nature.
It really is crazy what human beings will believe. The Son of God myth has been played out many many times throughout history.

Long before Jesus, there was Horus, Attis, Krishna, Dionysus, Mithra, and many many others.

The real question should be, why/how has the Jesus version been successfully perpetuated for this long?

The lengths of mental gymnastics some of you will go to in order to not have to face the truth staring you in the face is quite amazing.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

People tend to take it personally when you start calling thier deepest beliefs "myths" based solely on your own contrary disdain because you can't understand it.

Pretty sure every religious war in history started with similar thoughts.

Just believe what you want, who tf cares what other people believe or say?

How did Muhammad become so big? Buddha? When people become poster boys for a religion they tend to have a following.

People really want to believe there is something after they die, and depending on where you lived geographically you had some figure telling you what to believe, probably due to communication constraints.
