Someone bought moving boxes, used them and returned them...

I bought a big stack of boxes at Home Depot in their moving section. I just noticed one of the boxes has a kid's name on it and says "baby clothes". Someone actually bought cardboard boxes, taped them and used them, then broke them back down to return them to Home Depot for a refund.
I know this isn't a thrilling story... just crazy that people do stuff like this.

Worst I've heard and have no way of knowing if true is someone returned a chicken that was eaten down to the bone to Costco and asked for a refund. Said they didn't like it and they wanted another one. Costco gave it to them free of charge.
Costco has an amazing return policy.

Having worked retail, it is easier just to process these BS returns than it is to argue with the customer.

I was at Dollar Tree one day and the guy in front of me bought a 2 pack of BBQ sandwiches and wanted to return him. The employees refused and I thought it was going to turn in to a fist fight. The guy was a middle aged man who looked like a poster child for alcoholism.

I worked at a moving truck rental place during high school, and I was always amazed at people thinking that just because they paid the use a dolly, it meant it was theirs even after the move was over.
"What do you mean I can't keep the dolly? I paid for it!"

Yep, the $8 rental fee means you can keep the $150 dolly.

This just makes me think about how genius it is to rent out that kind of equiptment. I moved in February and gladly paid $10 for the appliance dolly, that was a bargain to me based on how much of a pain in the arse it is to move a washer and dryer.
UHaul must make bank on those things compared to the capital outlay on them.

Yea, but sometimes the claim is too ridiculous to let slide. I have a few stories form back in the day when I co managed a Victoria's Secret that are pretty funny.

What's even more crazy is you bought cardboard boxes. Go behind a dollar general or any grocery store and there are more boxes than you could possibly use.

That's the big secret with retail. We threw out so many boxes every night. Anyone that asked could have as many as we had. I can't imagine we were the only store that would just give them away.

I didn't realize that was a thing. How much of a refund do you get for returning them? It can't be very much.

When I moved last year, I got every box I needed to move my whole house from the back of a dollar general.

I think I speak for the rest of the board when I say none of us want to hear your "funny" Victoria Secret stories, unless they involve the stuff we really want to hear.
