Anyone confused by this caption? He had been talking about Alaska well before then.
He went to Skagway, a port 90 miles north of here The only way to get there by road is through the Yukon, and the only way to get back out is through the Yukon. Leave the Alaska Hwy (1) in Whitehorse YT, and drive the Klondike Hwy (2) to Skagway. They took the Cassier Hwy north from vancouver, which hits the Alaska Hwy near Watson Lake, YT

I enjoyed the heck out of that photo narrative of the trip north.

Drive anywhere in Western Canada, it won't take you long to realize it a huge country.

Rush drummer Neil Peart took a break from the band after his daughter was killed in a car wreck and 10 months later his wife died of cancer. He told rest of the band he was going for a ride on his motorcycle to collect his thoughts.
He returned from his ride 2-3 years later and traveled 55,000 miles across North and South America.
He wrote a book about his journey.

Sounds like a great trip. A guy, local to me, has ridden around the world a couple of times, all over Europe, and the Middle East. Interesting stories, for sure.

Id say this is a pretty awesome way to mourn... to him and an amazing journey.

Its a beautiful city, the most Asian North American city to be sure. The major roads sucketh though. There is no freeway as such. Try to get from the Airport to any point North of town, pack a lunch at the wrong time of day.
Vancouver is pretty awesome.
I'd recommend this trip to anyone, motorcycle or car. It's interesting to see how civilization changes as you get into northern BC, how the landscape and vegetation change. There are some really amazing places in N. America and you can see quite a few on this route. Kluane in the SW part of the Yukon is just unbelievably stunning. Do it when you can take some time and enjoy the ride, stop and see as much as you can. I've only done the Cassiar route once and it's worth every mile and in pretty good shape.
There's someone who posts occasionally who has done this by motorcycle, he's posted on the OB before.

It's a cool trip but if he was going through a divorce and just lost his job, it's not very smart to be blowing that kind of money.
I'm sure he is deeply regretting going on that badass trip

If he has no money to pay the bills I'm sure he will be. I hope that's not the case though.

I'm sure he'll manage. Trips like that are rare, it's worth the experience.

Another book with the same theme is "Investment Biker", by Jim Rogers.

From the looks of that, I need to find a wife, get divorced, and quit my job.

Did he bone Sarah? I bet he did, little small town Alaskan sloots.

Did this trip up to the top without getting divorced. The mud/grime on Dalton is ridiculous, especially when you get behind a big truck. That suit I wore up there is still stained from it. This is a pretty easy trip now and lots of people do it on bikes every year.
Want to go around the world on the bike after I retire, if I get to retire. My daughter on the way pretty much ended any hope of doing it before then...

Great photos and story. If you liked his story, I would recommend reading the advrider.com and expeditionportal.com forums. They are filled with stories like this.
