I was OK with it right up until they floated the idea that the next James Bond may be black. That was when I decided I would never again go to a remake if they go down that road. Some things are sacred and Bond, is there a more lily white man?, is one of those sacred institutions.

I'm just pissed they're ruining Rocky
IV should have been the end

While I agree with you on IV should've been the end, at least he new Creed movie is a continuation of the story with Apollo's son.

Some of this "remakes with blacks" stems from white guilt. However, I think it is probably Public Relations wanting to smooth over an already controversial topic.

Blacks have far more successfull and prominant roles in world history than has been portrayed for all of these years. Theres a slow revolution in motion revealing some very interesting shite. ...like it or not!

Only cause Rocky's son is a pussy

Even better question. Why do they keep making movies with Jamie Fox as the star?

Ding ding ding! Great! Then make those successful prominent people's lives into a movie!!

now this Wiz show is a remake of the Wizard of Oz
The Wiz is original, over 20 years old, and a great play.
The rest I agree with you.
Hoping for an all white Soul Plane

Umm the wiz was a black thing with Michael Jackson in the 70s.

Jesus people. Do you not know that the Wiz is predicated on the Wonderful Wizard of Oz? It's been posted in this thread. Whether it was recreated back then with blacks or tomorrow with blacks shouldn't make a difference in this discussion. Bring on new plots and story lines with whatever color actors you want but at least make it original

Basic plot and characters, yes, but dialogue, songs, score, etc all different and solid on its own right

They remake/reboot Star Trek, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, and about 500 other movies but you people only complain when there's a black person added.
The Karate Kid? What difference does it make if he's Italian or black? It's this type of attitude that keeps talented black actors limited to black movies. Like how Zoe Kravitz was told that she couldn't even get an audition for a small role in The Dark Night because they "weren't going in an urban direction".

A drunk misogynist that follows orders like a lamb? Is that what you are going for?
I get your premise but English-born Idris Elba would play the role pretty well, in my opinion. And that was the only black guy in consideration.

Time to riot. And not because my TV just went on me. I will start the facebook event, soon as I get to my safe space.

We should redo Roots with white people.

I've never seen a black kid in a karate class
