That's because alcoholics keep lowering the bar.

Dude...honestly, I drink a fair amount. But I get legitimately drunk about once a month...I never blackout, I can't even tell you the last time that happened. Not only is that a good reason for her to leave you, I'd say she was stupid if she didn't. You need a 12 step program.

I quit drinking 20 years ago. I don't go to AA. I don't call myself an alcoholic, but my life is better without it . No big deal.

The dude is a shitty, attention seeking troll.

He probably also has some element of borderline personality disorder, which happens to be more common in women, meaning he is likely very effeminate also.

So maybe we'll get another "coming out of the closet" thread soon.

Probably, but this dude is more than likely as deep in the closet as possible. Blaming alcohol is just a front.

I already like you. Life is too short. Go for it.

Good for her. She made a wise decision. Doesn't need to be drug down by you.

Getting blackout drunk ever besides once and a while accidentally is a problem. It definitely shouldn't be a regular thing

Once you hit rock bottom, you will know! Maybe loosing this girl is not rock bottom for you? But one day your are gonna wake up, and ask for real help. Hopefully it's not on the OT. I hit my rock bottom sept 6th of this year, I've been sober since. I had a drunk parent that died at a early age. I always told myself I would never drink like that, well guess what I did!! I used drinking as a cover up for anxiety and depression, at first it helped. It's started as a couple a whiskey drinks here and there. I started to hide it, and all of a sudden I was going thru a fifth a whiskey a day. I've had my share of blackouts, kidney pains you name it. You've got to want to stop!! Best of luck to you!

You obviously have a drinking problem, and beating the shite out of your liver will affect your life.

I drank a fifth of Woodford Reseve in 3.5 to 4 hours, when I was younger and dumber, and remember that night very well. Freaking lightweight.

He is an alcoholic. Has nothing to do with being a lightweight. He over does it and his brain is shutting down and he is slowly killing it. If he keeps it up his short term memory will be shot and will take years of not drinking to get it back. Not to mention the other damage done to the body.

I was drinking a lot less, then started heavily on Saturdays this football season. I completely blacked out after the Ole miss game. I couldn't imagine doing that every weekend so I am stopping. I thought I could handle myself but a few weekends of drinking and I finally wasn't able to control it. It only takes 1 drink for an alcoholic to get drunk.

You've definitely got some issues.

Try saying those things to a professional face to face. You may not be so ready to admit them.
